Sleep & Hypertension

A symposium taking place until 10 a.m. and being led by chair Dr. Antonio Culebras is focusing on “Sleep and Hypertension.” Topics being discussed include the relationship between sleep, sleep disorders and high blood pressure, as well as how to manage patients with high blood pressure through the identification of these sleep disorders.

Sleep disorders that will be prominent in this discussion include
obstructive sleep apnea, periodic limb movements and insomnia. A study in the April 1 issue of the journal SLEEP reported that the risk of hypertension associated with insomnia and a short sleep duration is comparable to the risk associated with obstructive sleep apnea.

Culebras was one co-author of a
scientific statement published last summer that focused on the growing evidence linking sleep apnea to cardiovascular disease. The statement reported that about 50 percent of OSA patients are hypertensive, and an estimated 30 percent of hypertensive patients also have OSA, often undiagnosed.

  1. Sleep disorders like sleep apnea causes heart diseases, stroke and sudden death as well. Though many of us do not take this as a serious ailment, its seriously quiet alarming. Having a cold body shower before bed is too another way to get a good night sleep. It also helps you to get refreshed, relaxed and makes you calm after the hectic day.

  5. Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It's very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.Asian Sex Pix Asian Sex Video Clips Black Sex Clips Black Sex Galleries Black Sex Movies Black Sex Mpegs Black Sex Mpgs Black Sex Pics Black Sex Pictures Black Sex Pix

  7. The link between hypertension and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome is obvious. There are also other side effects involved, such as low oxygen levels in the blood, stroke and heart failure. These are also the main causes of death in patients with severe sleep apnea.
